BENJAMIN GOLDMAN PICTURES

Benjamin creates captivating and witty animated shorts, title sequences, and branded entertainment—bringing history to life since the turn of the century. Using a dimensional-cutout technique with archival images and original art, his work has a magical and decidedly handmade feel. He has created unfilmable, unforgettable docu-animation for clients ranging from HBO to THE SMITHSONIAN. Benjamin’s early films were supported by the PRINCESS GRACE FOUNDATION, his collage animation will be featured in HBO’s upcoming GENERATION HUSTLE, and his latest film was acquired by THE NEW YORKER. In a recent writeup, the magazine compared Benjamin to one of his creative heroes: “…EIGHT NIGHTS mixes nostalgia, family, shame, guilt, and humor into a seriously potent cocktail. In a hybrid of animation, interview, and archival footage reminiscent of Michel Gondry…” Benjamin’s film title sequence work began with lead animation for LEMONY SNICKET’S A SERIES OF UNFORTUNATE EVENTS’ celebrated end titles. Most recently, his title design can be seen in IMAX PANDAS 3D. Benjamin has produced and directed branded entertainment through A+E / HISTORY for clients like HYUNDAI, ALLY BANK, EHARMONY and VOLKSWAGEN—and has created animated films for museums including the SMITHSONIAN, the NEW YORK HISTORICAL SOCIETY and the NATIONAL ARCHIVES. He has made films about the Big History of Venice Beach for TEDxVeniceBeach, and his FIVE UNBELIEVABLE TOUR DE FRANCE STORIES was an International Documentary Association event audience favorite. Whether creating artful, handmade animation solo or guiding a team, Benjamin takes a creative, enthusiastic, good-humored approach to everything he does.
